Overall Setup - In-Person & Remote Chess

Our philosophy is to empower students through chess and we promote our unique brand of serious chess. Currently we offer in-person and remote practices, private lessons and tournaments. Our focus is to hone our students skills and prepare for life’s innumerable and often daunting decisions, competitive chess in a safe and interactive group settings.

Cost: from $50.00 per child - Refer to our membership payment page (Plus $75 registration fee - separate item for new students for an official chess set, team t-shirt & notation book)

July 11th through August 20th, 2024, Tuesdays & Thursdays

6:15pm to 7:30pm - Beginner/Novice/Younger

(Students aged 10 and under generally leave at, or before 7:30pm)

6:15pm to 8pm - Intermediate/Advanced/Older

Introductory zoom call for all new students

During practice chess we play short games, solve chess puzzles and discuss various chess strategies. We concentrate on different approaches and the critical thinking needed to improve a player’s game.

We are evaluating in-person tournaments where our club group will be paired for individual games with each other.

Steps to Join

1) Review our student expectations here

2) Consider whether your child is ready for remote chess:

  • Does your child have some basic chess skills such as knowing the main legal moves and basic chess notation?

  • Does you child have a basic tournament chessboard and pieces? (example shown in the “Additional Information” section of this page

  • Does your child express and interest in chess and have concentration to engage in a focused task for 1.5 - 2 hours at a stretch?

  • Does your child have a device and network to connect to zoom and participate in online instruction?

  • If you have any questions, concerns or gaps with the above then please do reach out to coach El-Mekki at paulrobesoncc@gmail.com so we can find the best method of support.

2) Complete the form below which will be directed to coach El-Mekki at paulrobesoncc@gmail.com

3) We will contact you to setup an introductory zoom call where we can discuss the club, your application and any questions or concerns that you may have

4) After the introductory zoom and successful application to the club, we will provide any additional details that you need to join the practice classes and scheduled tournaments
